 Hello; I’m Joan

Hello; I'm Diane

Meet the AAE Instructors

Our custom tailored projects are designed for today's astute embroidery designer, stitcher and quilter.
We welcome all Bernina Embroidery Software V7 & V8 owners in Ventura County, Santa Barbara County and Los Angeles County.

I have been sewing since high school where we were required to have four years of sewing.  After school I worked as a nanny, then married my husband, and began working in retail sales. I worked two years at International Silks and Woolens in Thousand Oaks, California, selling many types of fabrics.

After that store closed in the '70s I worked at Baron’s Fabrics in Camarillo, California, which allowed me to meet and help many people with their sewing issues.

During my thirty-three year career at Baron's, among my various responsibilities, I was in charge of the Home Deco Department at a time when people made home decorations and accessories.

I also sold Bernina Sewing Machines, and fell in love with Bernina Software.  I have had many years of training on the Bernina embroidery software and machine embroidery instruction. In addition, I have taught Bernina Software classes for fifteen years.

I fell in love with quilting twenty years ago when I saw an antique Grand Mothers Flower Garden quilt in a Ojai quilt shop.  I have since made many, many quilts. I am mostly self taught and love to piece and quilt my own quilts.

In 2005 I began work at Barons Fabrics, Camarillo, where I sold fabric, Bernina Sewing Machines and Bernina Software. Selling Bernina Sewing machines and software consumed my work hours and directed me to where I am today.

At Baron’s Fabrics I taught quilting classes for five years from beginning quilting to embroidering on quilts. Joan and I have taught Bernina software and stitch out classes since 2007.

By teaching embroidery project classes for a little over six years, I have learned many sewing techniques.  Combining this experience with my quilting knowledge has broadened my sewing skills.
